Popularly known as the Peoples' Team, Nyasa Big Bullets is widely considered Malawi’s most successful club in terms of the fan base, the number of trophies won and financial muscle. Founded in 1967 the team, which is based in Blantyre, plays its home matches at the Kamuzu Stadium and has won the National League title a record 14 times including seven consecutive times between 1999 and 2005. Bullets, who are currently sponsored by cigarette manufacturing company, Nyasa Manufacturing Company are the current TNM Super League champions. The team became the only Malawian team to qualify for the group stages of the CAF Champions League in 2004 when they were known as Bakili Bullets and sponsored by the then Malawi President, Bakili Muluzi. Currently, the team is managed by former Zimbabwe National team Coach, Callisto Pasuwa with club legend and former club captain, Peter Mponda as his assistant. Bullets recently embarked on a commercialization drive that saw Nyasa Manufacturing Company acquiring full ownership of the team hence the name Nyasa Big Bullets. The team uses red and white as its traditional and home colors.
