Ekwendeni Hammers Football Club started as a socio club in 2008 with the interest and influence of Mabuchi Mkandawire as a founder as well as Executive Director of the Team. Later in 2010 the Team qualified for the local trophy which was organised by a certain member of parliament (MP) for Mzimba north constituency where the club won the championship of the trophy and players gathered the momentum courage of working extra harder to accelerate and eventually in 2011 the club joined another district level trophy called Mzuzu Coffee trophy under division one as the third tier, but still more the club qualified for the championship of the trophy.
After being intrinsically motivated with satisfactory progression as a passion of interest, the Ekwendeni Hammers Football Club still gathered momentum courage as expression of interest in joining the Northern Region Premier League in 2012 as second tier at National level in Malawi by then, and got registered with Football Association of Malawi as part of the Government arm responsible for soccer patronage in the country where youth were trained with different skills and football talent advancements.
During the seasonal period of 2015 to 2017 Ekwendeni Hammers Football Club joined Simama League and Carlsberg Malawi League where it exposed itself to the general class of viewers and promoted its brand in the entire northern region.
